ABOUT KOI FISH
Koi are domesticated, ornamental carp fish from China and Japan that a very closely related to the gold fish. In Japanese "Koi" actually refers to the common carp. The fish we refer to as Koi fish are actually called "Nishikigoi" in Japan; ornamental carp fish.
In reality there are many different varieties of Koi fish which are distinguished by the patterns, colours and scales of the koi fish. The cyberpet Koi Fish that I offer, however, have specific class and colouration titles which do not necissarily follow the types and varieties that you may learn about in reality.

Koi are quite hardy fish and can be kept in small areas or very large ones. Koi can live very long if well taken care of and can grow very large, some have been recorded at 3 feet long. Koi fish only grow as big as their habitat will allow; the ones in small containers tend to stay small while the ones in large pools can get quite large.
There are many colours that Koi fish can come in, the main ones being; White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Gold, Black and Indigo Blue. It is common to find Koi fish with interesting splotchy markings over their body. Some colours are more rare than others.
Although Koi fish are posted on this website with the Lil' Petz.. they are not considered official lil petz.. they are just another small cyberpet adoption by Tlouey. They are special cyberpets that are not often available with other lil petz sales, auctions and custom sign-ups.

COLOUR TITLES
This is a basic list of the different colours and what titles go with them. This is to give you a basic understaning of how your Koi fish are titled by their colours. Some of the base colours are given the same names as the marking colours, which can sometimes appear confusing. Sometimes koi colour titles are put together a little different than just adding the literal ones listed below together. For example: sometimes the fish is given two base colours or sometimes the white on a koi fish is ignored in the title.
Base Colours
Ai - Indigo Blue
Aka - Red
Beni - Orange
Cha - Brown
Gin - Metallic Grey or Blue (Silver)
Karasu - Black
Ki - Yellow
Kin - Metallic Yellow (Gold)
Midori - Green
Shiro - White
Sora - Grey
Marking Colours
Hi - Red
Ki - Yellow
Nezu - Grey
Orenji - Orange
Shiro - White
Sumi - Black

CLASS NAMES
Through select breeding, a few different classes of Koi fish have been developed over the years. Some are much more rare than others.
Water Spirit
Probably the most common, Koi fish of this class have classic Koi look and other characteristics. Koi fish of this class can come in any Koi colour.
Water Aikokusha
Another fairly common class, the Koi fish of this class have most of the same characteristics of Water Spirit Koi except that they always have a circular red marking on their head. Aikokusha Koi tend to have rounder fins that Water Spirits, as well.
Water Dragon
An uncommon class of Koi, members of the Dragon class on average tend to grow more rapidly than other Koi. Dragon Koi always have Barbels, some are short, but on some Koi fish they can get very long.
Water Butterfly
Sometimes referred to as Water Geisha, Butterfly Koi are the most fertile of all the Koi fish and arguably the most beautiful. They are also known for being the hardiest of the Koi fish, even though they look the most ornamental. They have long, flowing fins and tend to have barbels just like the Dragon Koi. Butterfly Koi are very rare and their fin characteristics are recessive and hard to acheive through breeding, even if you use a pair of Butterfly Koi to breed.

POSTING KOI
When posting your Koi fish on your website, please make sure you have a separate area just for them. You can place as many koi fish on a page as you like, but you must not have any other cyberpet on that page with them. You need to have their info on the same page as them.
It is best for your koi fish if you have some acessories to make them more comfortable. Koi fish acessories are available for sale at the Crystal Palace Market from time to time, so keep an eye out. Koi and Koi accessories are designed to be placed overlapping on your website using div layers. Lip pads and such are made to look like they are on top of the water and the koi fish are swimming below them.
