Dragon Deities
dragon reproduction

A few weeks before the annual dragon breeding season, the towns of the land have a great celebration with feasts and games and much singing and dancing. After the celebrations are complete, the dragon lord of the village gets together all of his or her men and horses and together they enbark on the annual journey to take their dragon(s) to the Breeding Grounds. Dragon lords from all over the land come bearing their castle's colours to breed their dragons at the historic Breeding Grounds. They all set up camp around the large castlated keep. The entire clearing around the keep is blanketed in tents and brightly coloured flags. For an entire week they stay there meeting with other dragon lords and exchanging stories around campfires while each waits their turn to breed their dragons in the keep. Breeding Dragons is a very dangerous feat and many men have been killed doing so.

The Picco Forum's Breeding Grounds
On the Picco Forum, where 99% of our game play will take place, there is a board called The Breeding Grounds. Within it are two sub-boards, Stud & Brood and Applications. You've probably already figured out that the Stud & Brood board is for advertising your dragons' services and that the Applications board is for applying for a breeding. Seeing as you already have it all figured out, there's hardly a reason for this little section to be here! LOL! There's just a few things I want to point out, like the rules of using these boards. To keep everything neat & tidy so that it'll be easy to navigate these boards and get the information one is seeking, please do not post any extra posts on these boards! Any form of conversation should be left to the General Discussion boards.
When first posting a Stud of Brood service on the Stud & Brood forum, please make a new thread and title it you castle's name presents... So, say my castle's name is Castle of Flaming Skies, then I would title my new thread The Castle of Flaming Skies presents... or proudly presents... or something to that effect. Then continue to post in that thread the different dragons you have to offer. You can either continuously update that one post or just continue to make new posts in that thread. Please only have one thread per castle / kingdom / home / stables / weyr... whatever you categorize your program as being. Please DO NOT respond to anyone's advertisement threads! If you are interested in their dragon that is currently offered for stud or brood, please talk to them through email or PM.
For the Applications board, we'd also like to keep this board very organised, so please NO chit chat! Every month I will open up the breeding season much like Piccolo breedings. I will post a new thread with the name of the month on it and either have it as "open" or "closed"... obviously open means that i am accepting your applications while closed means that I am not accepting your applications. Please only post your application form within the thread and no other chit chat, when the eggs are laid they will be posted on that very thread and you can pick them up there, please no other posts. You are expected to get the egg posted in one of your active dragon keeps on your website within a week of receiving the egg, otherwise the egg will remain unfertilized or become spoiled or damaged... in the end the dragon originally in the egg will not develop and hatch from it and you will be left with just an egg. Eggs are considered ACTIVE dragons.
How To Breed Your Dragons
To breed your dragons you must send in an application for breeding form to Tlouey via the Applications board on the Picco Forum. When breeding season is open for a particular month Tlouey will start a new thread on the Applications board with the name of the month and it's current status (open or closed). When the month's status becomes open you will be free to respond to that thread with your application all filled out. Make sure to correctly provide all the information necissary to completely fill out the application form. PLAN AHEAD, you must have room in your active dragon keep to house the egg once it is laid, that means that you have to only have two active dragons in there if you are novice or five if you are a paid player. Both male and female dragons must also be active to be bred. Once a female dragon lays her egg she must be put 'inactive' when the next month comes around and she can only be bred five times in her lifetime. So, you'll want to make sure to breed your dragons properly so as to get the very best dragonlings out of your brood dragons as possible. If you are a novice player you may only apply for one breedng a month. Dragons have a 70% rate of laying fertile eggs, this means 7 out of 10 eggs that are laid will actually hatch. So, if you send in an application form for a breeding, you have a seventy per cent chance of getting a dragon.

If you would like to purchase any of the breeding related dragon boosts or scale tips for a particular breeding please check out the Wizard's Shop in the village for more information and the different types of potions you can buy!
Sire is the male dragon and Dam is the female or brood dragon. The direct URL would be the webpage the dragon's full information and stat/battle card is on, not the url of the keep webpage that the dragon is currently in. Service Fees would be the fees involved if you were using the services of a public stud or brood dragon for this breeding. Pay to order of would be WHO is receiving the payment, or who the stud or brood belongs to. Your egg will be posted on the thread you applied in once breeding season is over and all the eggs are laid. Please pick it up and post it on your website as soon as possible... in your active dragon keep!!
Stud & Brood
To ensure that there is variation in the genetics of your dragons, I would like to encourage you to continuously introduce new dragons into your breeding programs; be it through purchasing and selling dragons, or through stud / brood services. Male dragons can breed as many females a pixel year that they are serviced to and still can enter competitions and shows during that time. Female or Brood Dragons, on the other hand can only be bred once a real-time month / pixel year and only bred 5 times in their lifetime. Also, once a female dragon lays her egg she must be put 'inactive' for one real life month / or an entire pixel year afterward. So, you'll want to make sure to breed your dragons properly so as to get the very best dragonlings out of your brood dragons as possible.
When offering your male dragon for stud, make sure to include his stud fee and availability. Availability? Some people feel that if a dragon's bloodlines get too common his bloodline and service will decrease in value and so they want to limit how many mares are allowed to breed with that dragon per year(s). The dragon's availibility can be characterized by universal Dragon Deity terms such as 'Open', 'Reserved', 'Limited'...etc. Open would imply that everyone is eligible to use your dragon's services, while Reserved would only be for certain brood dragons who have applied in advance, and Limited would be a first come, first serve basis and the dragon is only servicing a certain number of brood dragons a month. No matter the dragon's availablity, everyone who wants to breed their brood dragons with your dragon should PM you before sending in a breeding application.
Offering brood services is not as popular as it leaves the brood dragon unavailable to her owner for an entire year. Brood fees are usually more expensive and brood dragons are usually not serviced out unless they are of a very desired and / or rare bloodline and / or have very good genetics... while male dragons do not always have to be of as desired bloodlines or genetics to be in demand, but obviously, the more desired male dragons will be much more in demand and their stud fees will probably be much higher than other dragon. Brood Dragons can only be bred once a month and five times in their lifetime, so to use someone's brood dragon whose service is being offered for a certain month, you must contact the owner way in advance to reserve a brood dragon breeding.
Heredity & Genetics
Instead of using genetic codes like so many other cyberpets use, we use battle or stat cards. These show you, through stats, the expressed genetic codes instead of giving you codes to figure out. Now, what does a dragon inherit? Dragons inherit their body-type, their colours, their real or physical stats (speed, intelligence, strength...etc.) and their powers from their parent dragons. But, when a dragon deity god connects or bonds with the dragon any corresponding powers they inherited from their parents will be heightened. Usually, their resistance and piety is partially inherited from their parent but it also is partially due to how strong the force of their bond-god is within them.
Simply put, for the most part you can figure out what sort of stats your dragon will be given when looking at the sire and dam of him or her. So, if you want a specific dragon, you can look for the right mix to get achieve specific stats and powers within a dragon. Bond-gods are not inherited, however, so if you breed an earth to an earth, the offspring may or may not end up bonding with Milana, Goddess of Earth. It is not completely up to chance, however, but you'll just have to figure that out on your own through breeding and looking at other dragon's pedigrees / family trees.
